The Nationals, The 1900 Reds, and Corky Miller is Fantastic

Gio Gonzalaz + Soriano and Jordan Zimmermann pitched one hitters Thursday and Friday against the Reds.   The last time the Reds were held to one hit in successive games was the year 1900.  That 1900 Reds team finished second from last place, finishing behind the Chicago Orphans and the Boston Beaneaters.  The winner of the NationalLeague pennant that year, the Brooklyn Superbas (Nikki Minaj anyone).  By the way, that is the same Reds team with Noodles Hahn and Algie McBride in case you wondered.

Coincidentally, it appears that Reds Catcher Corky Miller would fit in with that team.  He is now the most fascinating baseball player in the world:

37 years old, Career .187 hitter, 6-1, 250lbs.  And he looks like this:

  1. It’s time for a fake Corky Miller Twitter account with references to what’s going on in “present day” 1974 baseball.
