Google didn’t get the memo on the new Nationals logo

Google didn’t get the memo on the new Nationals logo. And I’m using the word “new” quite liberally because the Nationals organization stopped using the above logo in 2010.

If you google “MLB standings”, like I did this morning, the above image will come up on your screen. The current MLB standings, and 29 of 30 correct logos.

I don’t like the old Nationals logo. It looks like clip art. It was quickly thrown together during the MLB ownership days. The team wisely transitioned to the curly W in time for the 2011 season.

The curly W does look like the Walgreens logo, but that’s a discussion for another day. In any event, Google is about three years behind. Adding insult to the injury, the Miami Marlins, who debuted their new logo a full year after the Nats, are correctly displayed.

Hey Google, you’re supposed to be cutting edge. Start cutting.
