Will Rhymes is the answer

Will Rhymes

Prior to this season, I didn’t think Will Rhymes would be the answer to any question.

With Danny Espinosa entering his third season and Steve Lombardozzi waiting on deck, infielder Will Rhymes–signed by the Nationals last November and currently playing in AAA–seemed like a surplus.

Now, with Danny Espinosa sucking beyond all comprehension and Lombardozzi not too far behind, it’s time for the Nationals to look to their minor league system.

Rhymes had two seasons with the Tigers and one with Rays before moving on to the Nats.  He batted .304 with a .350 OBP in 213 PA in 2010.

This season, he’s batting .299 with a .366 OBP in 44 games for the Syracuse Chiefs.  The Nats could use a .366 OBP right now.  Even if Rhymes can’t do that, he probably can’t be worse.
