Hunter Wendelstedt last night handled Bryce Harper’s meltdown like an umpire should: don’t inflame the situation and get back to calling the game.
Look, I’m not happy Bryce Harper was thrown out of the game. I’m not even saying Wendelstedt made a good call. But he didn’t instigate a fight like John Hirschbeck infamously did in Pittsburgh earlier this season.
I don’t expect perfection from umpires. I do expect professionalism. Wendelstedt passed the test.
