Nationals Park Attendance Patterns

Baseball attendance is easy to understand.  If a team wins, people come to the ballpark.  If a team loses, the fans stop coming.

No team is immune to the phenomenon.  Even the New York Yankees, with 27 World Series titles and The Best Fans On The Planet, saw a significant attendance drop this season–their first non-playoff season since 2008.

The Nationals have only existed since 2005.  And 2013 was only their second winning season ever.

Here are some Nationals attendance trends dating back to 2008, the first year of Nationals Park.  As you can see, as the team wins, their attendance rises.

It’s easy to understand.
